Epidural denial

“The national standard is that a woman should be given an epidural within 30 minutes of asking for one and must be given it within an hour. That’s an entirely achievable target in most units.”

some women are denied epidurals due to midwifes wanting natural births

not enough research about epidurals to support 

also lack of midwifes to administer epidurals

partners may be against epidural which has caused problems in the past

lack of informing women giving birth causes both wanted and unwanted epidurals

male doctors and epidurals do not mix well

"A study published last fall found that women are underrepresented in leadership roles in medical school departments of obstetrics and gynecology throughout the country. That ratio was most lopsided in men’s favor in the South. "

this is just infuriating to me
